This started all the way back in the Garden of Eden, when Adam and Eve sought to pursue their own knowledge rather than to trust God alone.  Yes, Jesus came to give His life as a sacrifice for our sins, but that would have been an incomplete sacrifice had it not been accompanied by teaching us what it means to love and worship God  as God would have us do.   Whether it be the religious leaders of Jesus' day, or some of the leaders of today, there is only one place we can be assured of finding truth, and that is in the words of Jesus.  APPLICATION Just because someone has a title or a position of authority does not mean that they speak for Jesus. There are a variety of reasons people are in error. Some are sincere in their beliefs, but sincerity does not guarantee truth.  Our truth needs to align

INTRODUCTION I want to start this blog with a journey through the Sermon on the Mount. I believe that this message encompasses all that we need to know to live the Christian life. I also believe that it has to be approached with an open heart and mind. I find that there are surface truths in this message, and some truths that you have to dig a little deeper to find.  I believe that in this message Jesus is not only confronting the religious thought of His day, but religious as well as human thought period.  There is a default belief in the human heart that wants to hold on to how we think things should be. The problem with this is it often blocks our ability to see the deeper truths. It is only through a humble approach that we will begin to see the truth.
